Residential Round-Up: Thomas DiDomenico

September 1 2014

Thomas DiDomenico, The Corcoran Group

How long have you been in the business?

I’m approaching two decades in the Manhattan real estate market.

What made you decide to get into real estate?

Moving into the real estate industry was an effortless choice for me. It was a natural extension of my entrepreneurial background and inherent independent spirit.

Who inspires you?

I’ve always believed that the most inspiring people are those individuals who think outside the box and excel at what they do.

What pushes you to the next level?

The endless opportunities that New York presents continue to motivate me, and the ever-changing landscape of this global city pushes me to the next level.

What is the hottest deal you have made to date?

My breadth of sales runs from lower Manhattan in Tribeca to the upper island in Harlem, so a favorite deal is not easily quantified. Each neighborhood in Manhattan has its own unique character; what’s hot in Tribeca is a world apart from Carnegie Hill’s sweet spot.

What is your secret weapon for sealing a deal?

Communication is key and listening is paramount.

What is the hottest area for deals right now?

One of the most interesting things about this current market is that every neighborhood is hot and sought-after. The city has such limited inventory at the moment with the global community wanting a piece of the apple.

What is the best season for deals?

Traditionally I would say the fall/winter seasons. In the last few years however, it’s become consistently more of a year-round business model.

If you had to live/work in any city other than New York, where would it be?

It would definitely be London! It’s steeped in history and is uniquely its own with a global appeal.

What is the best piece of advice you would give to someone starting in the business?

One of the most important things for someone starring in real estate is to have a strong business plan that sets you apart from the masses, build your unique brand and stay the course.
